For the first time, Oman Data Park launches Amazon Outpost service in the Sultanate of Oman

Muscat, October 2022: Maqbool  Al-Wahaibi: This service is  a qualitative shift in the management of the infrastructure for managing applications and data.

For the first time in the Sultanate of Oman , Oman Data Park (ODP) launched   – Amazon Outpost  cloud services, in cooperation with Amazon International , one of the largest American companies in the field of cloud services and e-commerce worldwide.

The launching of this new advanced cloud service comes within the framework of Oman Data Park’s efforts that aim at enhancing cyber security, facilitating digital transformation processes, and making a quantum leap in the management of applications and data for government agencies and companies and hosting information and data in  Sultanate of Oman internally ,instead of abroad.

This new cloud service will also contribute to enhancing Oman Data Park capabilities in helping to protect its clients in Oman against the various kinds of cyber security risks and maintaining data security and confidentiality, by hosting data within the country boarders.

This new service is also considered as an advanced technical initiative that meets the requirements of Oman Vision 2040 implementation, which aims at utilizing the  modern technologies and employing  them to serve the economic development in the Sultanate of Oman.

In a statement about this service, Maqbool bin Salem Al-Wahaibi, CEO of Oman Data Park, said, “The Amazon Outpost service   is considered as a qualitative shift in the management of the infrastructure for managing applications and data in Oman, and it also contributes to reduce the technical operational costs of government entities and the private companies   , compared to traditional systems in managing ,  operating and securing the  applications and  data” .

Al-Wahaibi added: “One of the advantages of the Amazon Outpost service also is that it contributes to accelerating the implementation and management of applications, as well as it works automatically with no need for human cadres in managing its infrastructure system” .

Al-Wahaibi stressed that, most government entities and private companies can take the advantages of this technology in terms of its flexibility, speed and dynamism in managing applications and data. He also called on all sectors to utilize such kinds of advanced technologies in managing modern application operations.

Al Wahaibi affirmed Oman Data Park’s capabilities to provide its specialized professional services to the various administrative units of government agencies in the Sultanate in the   cloud services fields and security assessment services that aim at identifying, evaluating technical weaknesses, and setting preventive measures to protect them from external and internal cyber threats related to information technology
